The Lightning Bull's Secret Game
Lily pressed her eye to the telescope, her breath fogging the glass. She was the best spy in Oakhaven—or at least, the best pretend spy in the whole third grade. Every night, she watched the sky from her treehouse, searching for mysteries.
Tonight, something magical happened.
A flash of lightning struck the old farm down the road. But it didn't fade. It crackled and shimmered like a tiny sun, right there in the meadow.
Lily grabbed her flashlight and sneakers. The best spy never let a mystery get away!
Creeping through tall grass, she followed the glowing light. And there, standing in the meadow, was the most magnificent creature she'd ever seen—a massive white bull with a lightning bolt-shaped patch on his forehead. His horns sparked with electricity, and his hooves left smoking prints on the grass.
"You're the spy everyone talks about," the bull said gently. His voice rumbled like distant thunder.
Lily's flashlight clattered to the ground. "You can talk!"
"I'm Bolt," said the bull. "I play padel—magical lightning padel—with the clouds. But I lost my favorite ball. It fell somewhere in your town, and now I can't play my game."
"I can help you find it!" Lily offered, her heart racing with excitement. Real magic! Real adventure!
Together, they searched. Bolt's glowing horns lit the way as they peeked under porches, behind shops, and through the park. Lily asked neighbors nicely, and they all wanted to help the friendly, sparkling bull.
Finally, little Timmy from next door held up a glowing ball. "I found this! It buzzes when I squeeze it."
Bolt's eyes shone with gratitude. "You found it! Thank you, friends."
"Play with us!" Lily begged.
And that night, in the middle of Oakhaven's soccer field, Bolt taught the children how to play lightning padel. The ball zipped through the air like shooting stars. Every time someone hit it, rainbows burst from their racquets.
When morning came, Bolt had to return to the sky. But he left something behind—tiny sparks in every child's pocket, a reminder that the best mysteries are the ones you solve together.
Lily smiled through her telescope. Being a spy was exciting. But having friends—even magical lightning bull friends—was better.
