The Lightning Bull's Secret
Lila loved the old stone pool at the bottom of her garden. It wasn't a swimming pool—it was a magical pool that reflected the stars like liquid silver. Every night, she would sit on its edge and whisper her wishes to the shimmering water.
One stormy evening, lightning cracked across the sky. Lila hid under the oak tree, watching in awe as bolts of purple and gold danced above the garden. Suddenly, a tremendous bolt struck the center of the pool.
Instead of shattering, the water began to glow. From the ripples emerged a magnificent bull made entirely of crackling lightning. His horns were crescent moons, his eyes were like twin stars, and his hooves left sparkling trails wherever he stepped.
"Don't be afraid, little one," the Lightning Bull spoke in a voice like distant thunder. "I am the guardian of wishes. Every thousand years, I awaken to grant one pure heart's desire."
Lila trembled but stepped forward. "I wish my grandmother could see the garden one more time. She misses her flowers."
The Lightning Bull's gentle eyes softened. "A wish for another, not yourself. This is the purest wish of all."
He lowered his enormous head, and his lightning horns touched the water. The pool began to swirl with colors—rosy pink, sunny yellow, grassy green. Images formed in the water: Lila's grandmother sitting in her favorite spot, surrounded by blooming flowers, a smile on her face as she watched butterflies dance.
The vision floated up from the pool like a soap bubble and drifted toward the house, slipping through the window to find its way to grandmother's dreams.
"Thank you," Lila whispered.
"Brave kindness is the greatest magic," the Lightning Bull said, already fading into the mist. "Remember this always."
The next morning, Lila's grandmother woke up with a smile. "I had the most wonderful dream," she said. "I was in my garden, and everything was in bloom."
Lila hugged her grandmother tight, knowing that some magic is real, and the best wishes are the ones we make for others.
