The Lightning Bull's Magical Hit
Barnaby was not like other bulls. While they slept in the barn, Barnaby watched the farm children play baseball through the fence. His brown eyes widened every time the ball soared through the air like magic.
"If only I could play," Barnaby sighed. But he was too big. Too scary. The children ran away whenever he came near.
One summer evening, Barnaby discovered something extraordinary near the orange tree at the edge of the field. A single orange glowed with golden light, pulsing like a heartbeat. When Barnaby nudged it with his nose, the fruit burst into shimmering sparks.
Suddenly, the sky turned brilliant orange. Thunder rumbled like a giant waking. Lightning flashed in jagged ribbons of silver and purple.
The magical sparks lifted Barnaby upward, higher and higher, until he stood on a field made of clouds. Before him were magnificent beings—tall and glowing, with bats that shimmered like starlight.
"Welcome, Barnaby," said the tallest spirit, whose voice sounded like wind chimes. "We are the Lightning League. We've been waiting for someone with a heart as big as yours."
Barnaby's eyes filled with happy tears. "You'll let me play?"
The spirit handed Barnaby a baseball that crackled with tiny lightning bolts. "Hit this, and discover your true gift."
Barnaby gripped the ball. The bat felt perfect in his hooves. With all his might, he swung—and connected.
CRACK! The ball shot upward, trailing fire. Lightning split the sky. Clouds turned orange, gold, and purple. The magical energy swirled back and settled into Barnaby's horns, which now glowed with gentle golden light.
Down on the farm, the children and animals watched in wonder as the sky lit up with the most beautiful display anyone had ever seen.
When Barnaby returned to the barn, his horns still glowing, the other bulls gathered around.
"Where did you go?" asked young Felix, eyes wide.
"To a place where dreams come true," Barnaby smiled. "And I learned something important. Being big isn't bad—it's magnificent. We're all made for something special."
From that night on, whenever lightning flashed during summer storms, the farm animals would smile, remembering Barnaby's magical game. And sometimes, if you looked closely during an orange sunset, you could see a glowing figure practicing baseball hits among the clouds, creating beautiful lightning with every swing.
Barnaby never played on the ground again, but every child who looked up during stormy nights knew that somewhere above, a very special bull was turning ordinary lightning into something magical—just like he had turned his dreams into reality.
