The Lightning Bull's Golden Heart
Emma sat by her window, watching the storm roll across the dark sky. She loved thunderstorms—the way the air felt electric and full of secrets. But tonight, something different was about to happen.
A brilliant flash of lightning streaked across the heavens, brighter than any she'd ever seen. It zagged and zoomed like it was dancing, then suddenly shot downward into the pasture behind her farmhouse.
Emma grabbed her yellow raincoat and boots. She knew she shouldn't go outside during a storm, but something pulled her toward the field. Something magical.
In the middle of the pasture, where the lightning had struck, stood the most magnificent creature Emma had ever seen. It was a bull, but not like any bull on her farm. This bull shimmered with soft golden light, his coat glowing like captured sunshine, his horns curved like crescent moons made of starlight.
The lightning bull lowered his massive head and looked at Emma with eyes as deep and gentle as summer pools.
"Hello," she whispered.
The bull made a sound like distant thunder, but warm and friendly, not scary. He nudged her hand with his soft nose, and Emma felt a tingle of warm energy flow through her fingers.
"I'm Fern," the bull seemed to say without speaking aloud. Emma could hear his thoughts in her heart like a song. "I was born from lightning's magic. I've been waiting for someone kind enough to see me."
"You're my friend now," Emma said, wrapping her arms around his glowing neck. "My very best friend."
Fern let out a happy rumble that sounded like distant church bells. From that night on, whenever storms came, Emma would run to the pasture. Fern would appear from nowhere, carrying Emma on his back through clouds painted rainbow colors. They'd race the wind, dance with raindrops, and catch shooting stars in their hands.
The other farm animals never seemed to notice Fern. Emma realized that friendship magic was real—some friends could only be seen by hearts open enough to believe.
Every storm became an adventure. Every lightning flash became Fern's way of saying hello. And Emma, the girl who once watched storms from her window, now rode through the sky on her lightning bull's back, the bravest, most magical friend anyone could ever have.
