The Lightning Bull's Game
Lily loved playing padel with her grandfather at the old court near their house. The little racquet made a satisfying *thwack* when she hit the ball, and her grandfather cheered every time she made a good shot.
One afternoon, as they played, dark clouds gathered overhead. Thunder rumbled like a giant waking up from a long nap.
"Time to go home, mi niña," her grandfather said, gathering their things.
But then it happened — a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, striking the ground just beyond the court. When Lily looked, she couldn't believe her eyes. A magnificent bull made entirely of sparkling light stood there, its horns glowing like tiny stars.
"You play beautifully," the Lightning Bull said, its voice sounding like wind chimes. "Would you like to play the most special game ever?"
Lily's eyes widened. "Yes! But... who will hit the ball back?"
"I will," the bull said, and with a toss of its luminous head, sent a ball of pure light floating toward Lily.
They played the most wonderful game. The bull didn't need a racquet — it nudged the light-ball with its nose, and it sailed through the air, leaving trails of rainbow colors. Lily hit it back, and *whoosh* — sparks flew like fireworks!
"In this game," the bull said gently, "everyone wins because we play together. That's the real magic."
The storm passed, and the bull began to fade. "Remember," it whispered, "kindness is the greatest victory of all."
Lily's grandfather returned with umbrellas to find Lily smiling at the empty court, holding her padel racquet tight.
"What happened, mi niña?"
"I made a friend," Lily said. "And I learned something wonderful."
That night, lightning flashed in Lily's window, and she swore she saw a familiar silhouette in the sky — a bull made of light, giving her a wink before disappearing among the stars.
Sometimes the best games aren't about winning at all. They're about the friends you make along the way.
