The Lightning Bull of Moonlight Pool

Lily loved the old pool behind her grandmother's house. It wasn't a swimming pool—it was a natural pool, hidden among tall oak trees, where the water shone like liquid silver under the full moon. Every summer, Lily would sit on its mossy edge, trailing her fingers in the cool water and dreaming of magical creatures.

One stormy night, Lily heard something strange. Peeking through her window, she saw brilliant lightning flash across the sky—not just one bolt, but many, dancing like silver ribbons. Something drew her outside. Through the rain, she ran to the pool.

There, standing by the water's edge, was the most amazing thing she had ever seen. A tiny bull, no bigger than a puppy, with fur that crackled and glowed like captured lightning. His horns were made of pure light, and his eyes shone like miniature stars.

"I'm Zapper," the bull said, his voice sounding like distant thunder, friendly and warm. "I'm made of storm magic, and I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me."

Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

"Magic bulls can do many things!" Zapper's tiny hooves left sizzling prints on the grass. "Want to see something amazing?"

He started running around the pool, and with every step, flowers made of pure light sprang up behind him. Red, blue, gold—glowing blossoms that filled the night with beauty. Lily laughed and joined in, running alongside her new friend.

"Faster!" Zapper called. "Feel the magic!"

They ran together around the moonlit pool, their laughter mixing with the rumble of distant storm clouds. The light-flowers bloomed brighter and brighter until the whole garden sparkled like a constellation had fallen to earth.

"Will you come back tomorrow?" Lily asked when the sun began to peek through the clouds.

Zapper nodded, his lightning fur dimming as the storm passed. "Whenever lightning dances across the sky, I'll be here. But remember, Lily—the best magic isn't in storms or tricks. It's in friendship, and in moments like this, running together under the stars."

He touched his glowing nose to her forehead, leaving a warm tingle, then dissolved into a mist of sparkles. Lily stood alone by the pool as dawn arrived, but she didn't feel lonely. The light-flowers still glowed softly, fading slowly. She knew that whenever storms came, her friend would return, and that was the best magic of all.

That summer, Lily learned that real magic doesn't need wands or spells. It needs courage to explore, an open heart to make friends, and the joy of sharing wonderful moments together. And every time she saw lightning streak across the sky, she smiled, knowing Zapper was getting ready to run again.
