The Lightning Bug's Secret Gift

In the middle of Silver Stream Pond lived a tiny water sprite named Droplet. She was smaller than a pebble and could change shape like a cloud in the sky. But Droplet was lonely. All the other water sprites were too busy racing down waterfalls and splashing in rainstorms to play with her.

One evening, as the sun painted the sky orange and purple, Droplet noticed something extraordinary. A tiny creature with a glowing bottom was resting on a lily pad. It wasn't a fairy or a star fallen from the sky—it was a lightning bug!

"Hello there," said Droplet, shy as a whisper.

The lightning bug opened its wings. "I'm Flash! I got lost during the big storm yesterday."

Droplet's eyes widened. "You saw real lightning? Up in the sky?"

"Yes!" Flash buzzed excitedly. "My family lives near the old oak tree. We guide lightning bugs home when the sky gets dark and stormy."

Droplet wanted to help her new friend. But how could a water sprite travel across the meadow? Water disappears in the hot sun!

Just then, Grandmother Turtle poked her head from the water. She was the oldest and wisest creature in Silver Stream Pond. "I can help," she said slowly. "But first, Droplet must learn the secret."

"What secret?" Droplet asked.

Grandmother Turtle smiled. "The secret of the rainbow vitamin. Every morning, catch a tiny piece of sunlight in your hands. Hold it close to your heart. It gives you the power to glow like Flash does."

Droplet practiced every day. She caught sunlight in her tiny hands until she could shimmer and shine like a tiny star. Now she could travel across the meadow without drying up!

Together, Droplet and Flash journeyed through the meadow. Droplet guided Flash through tall grass, and Flash lit the way when shadows grew scary. They finally reached the old oak tree, where hundreds of lightning bugs were waiting.

"Thank you, Droplet!" Flash said, wrapping her in a glowing hug. "You're my best friend."

Droplet smiled, her whole body sparkling with sunlight. "And you're mine."

From that day on, Droplet visited Flash often. She learned that the best magic comes from friendship, kindness, and a little bit of sunshine caught in your heart.
