The Lightning Bug's Promise

Little Louie was no ordinary firefly. While his friends glowed with soft yellow light, Louie sparkled like a tiny bolt of **lightning** — bright white and dazzling.

"You'll never find a friend," teased the other fireflies. "You're too flashy!"

Louie flew away, his heart heavy. He traveled until he reached the edge of the Wishing Woods, where he met Zed, a friendly **zombie** teddy bear who had been lost by his human years ago. Zed's stitches showed, but his smile was warm.

"Hello there, sparkly friend," Zed rumbled softly. "You look lonely."

Louie landed on Zed's fuzzy shoulder. "Nobody wants to play with me. I'm too bright."

Zed's button eyes twinkled. "Being different is what makes you special. Come, I'll show you something magical!"

Together, they climbed the Crystal Mountain until they discovered a shimmering **pyramid** made entirely of morning dew and spider silk. Inside, a pool of glowing **water** bubbled with rainbow colors.

"The Spring of Wishes," Zed whispered. "One sip, and your truest wish comes true."

But a magnificent cloud **bull** named Nimbus guarded the spring. His horns were made of thunder, his hooves of rain.

"Only those who prove their worthiness may drink," Nimbus boomed gently.

Louie's light dimmed. What could he possibly offer?

Suddenly, the pyramid began to collapse! The dew was drying up in the hot sun. Without the spring, all the forest creatures would lose their magic.

"I can help!" Louie cried. He flew to the highest point of the pyramid and flashed his brilliant light like a beacon, calling every firefly in the woods. "Come quickly! Together we can save the spring!"

Hundreds of fireflies arrived. Their combined glow created a protective shade, keeping the pyramid cool.

Nimbus bowed his great head. "You didn't think only of yourself. You saved us all. Drink, little lightning one."

Louie didn't wish to be ordinary. Instead, he wished that every creature would see that being different was beautiful.

The spring bubbled, and suddenly, every firefly gained their own unique glow — red, blue, green, purple.

"See?" Zed hugged Louie with his stuffed arms. "Your light showed us the way."

And that's why fireflies today glow in so many colors, and why they never fly alone — because even the smallest light can brighten the darkest night.

MORAL: Your differences are your greatest gifts, and true friendship sees the beauty in being unique.
