The Lightning Bug's Orange Gift

Lily loved summer evenings. She would sit on her porch watching the sky turn purple, waiting for the special moment when the first stars would appear.

One night, during a particularly loud storm, something magical happened. A tiny bolt of lightning didn't strike the ground or a tree. Instead, it zapped right into Lily's garden with a gentle *whoosh*.

When Lily crept outside the next morning, she found the most amazing thing. A little glowworm named Spark was sitting on an orange leaf, blinking happily. Spark wasn't an ordinary bug — this tiny creature could change colors!

"Hello!" said Spark. "I'm your new friend!"

Lily gasped. "You can talk?"

"Of course!" Spark did a happy little dance, turning from yellow to bright pink. "I came all the way from the lightning cloud to find someone special. And I found you!"

Every day after school, Lily would visit Spark. They had wonderful adventures. Spark would light up in beautiful colors to help Lily find lost toys in dark corners. Spark told stories about cloud castles and rainbow bridges.

One afternoon, Lily brought Spark a very special gift — a perfect, sweet orange from the kitchen. "This is my favorite fruit," she said. "I want to share it with my best friend."

Spark had never tasted anything so wonderful. The orange juice made the little glowworm glow brighter than ever — a brilliant, warm orange that reminded Lily of sunshine.

"Thank you, Lily," Spark said softly. "You taught me something important. The best gifts aren't magic tricks or pretty lights. The best gifts are sharing what you love with someone you care about."

That night, Spark returned to the clouds, but promised to visit every summer. And whenever Lily sees lightning during a warm storm, or peels a sweet orange, she remembers her glowing friend and the magical summer they shared.

Sometimes the best friends come from the most unexpected places, and the simplest moments become the most magical memories.
