The Lightning Bug's Magic Gift

Lily was afraid of water. Every Saturday, her mother took her to the community pool for swimming lessons, but Lily would only dip her toes in. The deep blue water looked scary, like a monster waiting to swallow her.

One rainy afternoon, Lily sat by her window watching a storm. Suddenly, a tiny lightning bug flew inside, glowing bright yellow like a miniature star. It landed on her desk and dropped something small and shiny—a glowing blue pebble the size of a blueberry.

Lily's heart raced. Could she really sneak out? Could she really face the pool at night?

Lily swam all night, learning that the water wasn't scary at all. It was magical, like flying through liquid starlight. When morning came, her hair stopped glowing, but something inside her remained bright and strong.

At swimming lessons the next day, Lily jumped right in. Her mother gasped. Lily smiled and swam across the pool, not afraid anymore.

That evening, the lightning bug returned. It didn't leave another pebble—Lily didn't need one anymore. True courage, she learned, doesn't come from magic vitamins or glowing hair. It comes from believing in yourself, even when things seem scary.
