The Lightning Bridge

Emma lived in a house at the edge of Whisper Woods, where storms danced across the sky like silver ribbons. Every evening, she'd wave to her favorite constellation — the Great Bull — twinkling above the treetops.

One stormy night, Emma noticed something glowing in the garden. Curious, she grabbed her yellow raincoat and followed the light to an old television cable someone had discarded. But it wasn't just a cable anymore. Lightning had struck it, and now it pulsed with rainbow colors, humming a gentle melody like a lullaby.

"That's strange," Emma whispered.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from behind the oak tree. It looked like a zombie from her storybooks — pale, messy, with one sock missing — but instead of groaning, it was GIGGLING.

"I'm not a zombie!" the creature said, reading Emma's mind. "I'm Zed! I'm just really, really muddy from digging. And I think I'm stuck."

Emma stepped closer. "What are you digging for?"

"The magic lightning stone!" Zed held up something that sparkled like captured starlight. "It fell from the sky during the storm. It grants wishes, but only to friends who help each other."

Emma's eyes widened. "I've always wished for a friend who likes adventures."

"And I've wished for someone who isn't scared of how I look," Zed smiled, revealing braces with rainbow bands.

Suddenly, the glowing cable stretched toward the sky, forming a shimmering bridge of light that climbed higher and higher — all the way to the stars. The Great Bull constellation twinkled brighter than ever.

"The cable is inviting us!" Zed said. "Want to see where it goes?"

Emma took Zed's muddy hand, and together they climbed the lightning bridge, leaving footprints of light. When they reached the stars, the Great Bull spoke in a voice like thunder softened by pillows: "Brave souls, you have discovered the secret. True friendship shines brighter than any lightning."

The bull touched their foreheads with a star, granting them each a wish.

Emma wished that everyone would see that scary things aren't always what they seem.

Zed wished that no one would ever feel lonely in the woods again.

The Great Bull nodded. "Your wishes have already come true. You found each other, didn't you?"

Emma and Zed looked at each other and laughed. Their laughter sparkled like tiny lightning bolts, creating new stars in the sky.

Every storm after that, Emma and Zed would dance in the rainbow glow of their magic cable, collecting fallen lightning stones and granting wishes to other lonely hearts. And somewhere above, the Great Bull watched over them, his starry eyes full of pride.

Because the best magic isn't found in lightning or wishes — it's found in friendship, especially with friends who look nothing like you expected.
