The Lightning Berry Gift

Ember the red fox loved summer storms. She would sit on her favorite rock, watching the sky dance with flashes of light. One rainy evening, as lightning cracked across the dark clouds, something amazing happened.

A bolt of lightning struck an old tree, and for just a moment, Ember saw glowing blue berries hidden in a hollow. She waited for the rain to soften, then crept closer. Her green eyes widened with wonder.

"Hello, little friend," rumbled a deep voice. Ember jumped! It was Barnaby, the wise old bear who lived by the river. "I saw the lightning too. Those berries are special."

"What are they?" Ember asked, her nose twitching with curiosity.

"Nature's secret gift," Barnaby explained. "Every hundred years, lightning awakens these berries. They're like magic vitamins for forest animals—one bite gives strength for a whole season. But we must share them."

Ember's heart filled with excitement. She imagined all her forest friends: the tired rabbits, the slow hedgehogs, the weak baby birds. They all needed help!

Together, fox and bear carefully gathered the glowing berries. By the flowing water, they called all the animals. Each took one small berry and felt energy surge through them.

But there was one berry left. Ember looked at the old bear, who had given his share to a sick deer. She nudged it toward him.

"You take it, Ember," Barnaby insisted. "You're small and still growing."

"No, Barnaby. You taught me something more important than magic berries," Ember said softly. "True strength comes from kindness. That's the best lesson of all."

The bear smiled, and the forest glowed not with lightning, but with friendship. And that, Ember knew, was the real magic.
