The Lightning Berry Friend

Lily loved watching summer storms from her bedroom window. The way the sky turned purple-gray, the rumble of thunder, and most of all, the brilliant flashes of lightning that danced across the clouds like nature's fireworks.

One evening, after a particularly spectacular lightning storm, Lily discovered something amazing in her garden. Nestled among the ordinary strawberries was a single glowing berry—blue as the sky and shimmering like it contained captured starlight.

"What are you?" she whispered.

A tiny creature no bigger than her thumb popped out from behind the berry. It had translucent wings that sparkled like the lightning itself, and its skin glowed with the same soft blue light.

"I'm Bolt!" the creature chirped. "And you found my lightning berry!"

"A lightning berry?"

Bolt nodded solemnly. "When lightning strikes the earth, it leaves behind special magic. Sometimes, if it hits the right spot, it grows into these berries. They're full of storm energy—the best vitamin in the whole universe!"

Lily's eyes widened. "A vitamin from storms?"

"Not just any vitamin," Bolt explained, hovering around the glowing berry. "This vitamin gives creatures the courage to face their fears. Like how I was afraid to fly until I ate my first lightning berry. Now I can zoom through the darkest thunderstorms!"

Lily thought about her own fears—the dark closet, the big slide at the park, speaking in front of her class.

"Can I try some?" she asked.

Bolt smiled, his whole body glowing brighter. "Share with me, and we'll be storm-brave together!"

Together, Lily and her new friend split the shimmering berry. Instantly, she felt warmth spread through her chest, like drinking hot cocoa on a snowy day. She felt lighter, braver, like she could face anything.

"Thank you, Bolt!" she exclaimed, and for the first time, she didn't just watch the next storm—she danced in its light, knowing that somewhere in the garden, a tiny glowing friend was dancing too.

And every storm after that, Lily and Bolt would share a lightning berry vitamin, because the best kind of courage is the kind you share with a friend.
