The Lightning Bear's Secret Pool
Luna loved exploring the forest behind her house, especially during summer evenings when the fireflies danced like tiny stars. One night, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, even though no storm clouds had gathered. Curious, Luna followed where the light had struck.
Deep in the woods, she discovered something magical—a crystal-clear pool glowing with soft blue light. The water rippled without any wind, and when Luna leaned closer, she saw the most surprising thing. A great brown bear was sitting beside the pool, holding something glowing in the palm of his paw.
"You came," said the bear, his voice warm and rumbly like thunder far away. "I've been waiting for someone who still believes in magic."
Luna wasn't afraid. Something about the bear's kind eyes made her feel safe. "What are you holding?" she asked, stepping closer.
The bear opened his paw to reveal a tiny lightning bug, no bigger than her thumb, but it shone brighter than any star. "This is Little Bolt," the bear explained. "He fell from the sky during the lightning storm and hurt his wing. I'm keeping him safe until he can fly again."
The pool began to glow even brighter. Luna gasped as images appeared in the water—castles in clouds, forests with rainbow trees, oceans made of lemonade. "The pool shows dreams," the bear said gently. "What do you wish to see?"
Luna thought carefully. "I wish to help Little Bolt fly home."
The bear smiled, and suddenly another flash of lightning illuminated the clearing. But this time, it was gentle and warm. Little Bolt's wing began to heal, sparkling with golden light.
"Thank you for your kindness," the bear said. "True magic isn't about wishes—it's about caring for others, even when they're small and need help."
That night, Luna ran home with her heart full of wonder, knowing that somewhere in the forest, a lightning bear was watching over the sky's smallest creatures, and that kindness was the greatest magic of all.
