The Lightning Bear's Gift
Lily loved stormy days. While other children hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance with flashing lights.
One evening, as lightning crackled across the purple sky, Lily noticed something peculiar. A small bear cub sat at the edge of her garden, its fur sparkling with tiny bolts of lightning. Unlike any bear she'd seen in picture books, this one had shimmering silver hair that glowed like captured starlight.
The lightning bear waved its paw, beckoning her outside. Lily slipped on her rainboots and tiptoed into the garden.
"I'm Bramble," the bear spoke in a voice like distant thunder. "And I need your help."
Bramble explained that the Storm King had lost his favorite lightning bolt, and without it, storms couldn't dance properly across the sky.
"How can I help?" Lily asked, extending her palm.
Bramble placed a tiny lightning seed in her hand. "Plant this where the moon touches the earth tonight. It will grow into a new lightning bolt."
Together they climbed Oak Hill, the highest point in town. Lightning flashed around them, but Lily felt safe with Bramble by her side. His warm fur protected her from the wind.
At the summit, they found a perfect spot where moonlight pooled on the ground. Lily dug a small hole and planted the glowing seed.
"Believe," Bramble whispered.
Lily closed her eyes and imagined the most magnificent lightning bolt—bright and beautiful, zigging and zagging like a smile drawn across the sky.
Suddenly, the ground trembled. A magnificent lightning bolt shot up from the earth, spiraling higher and higher until it joined the clouds above. The Storm King's storm roared to life, dancing more brilliantly than ever before.
"Thank you," Bramble nuzzled Lily's cheek. His lightning fur pulsed with happiness.
As the first rays of morning broke through the clouds, Bramble disappeared. But in her pocket, Lily found a silver hair from his coat—still shimmering with tiny sparks.
Now, whenever storms come, Lily watches for her friend. Sometimes she sees him dancing among the lightning bolts, and she knows that the best adventures start with being brave enough to help others, even when the sky is dark and scary.
After all, every storm carries something magical—if you're willing to look for it.
