The Lightning Bear's Baseball
Maya loved summer afternoons, especially when she could play **baseball** with her friends in the park. She was the best pitcher on her team, and her favorite ball had stars drawn all over it with shiny silver marker.
One hot day, dark clouds gathered overhead. CRACK! A bolt of **lightning** flashed across the sky, followed by a rumble of thunder. Maya's friends ran home, but she stayed behind, searching for her lucky baseball near the old **palm** tree at the edge of the park.
Suddenly, something moved behind the palm fronds. A large brown **bear** stepped out! Maya almost screamed, but the bear smiled and held up her missing baseball.
"I found your ball," the bear said softly. "I love baseball too. Want to play?"
Maya's fear melted away. "You can play?"
The bear nodded enthusiastically. They began tossing the ball back and forth. With every throw, the ball glowed brighter, like tiny lightning trapped inside. Maya threw her fastest pitch, and the bear caught it effortlessly.
When the summer heat became too much, the bear led Maya to a secret spot – a crystal-clear pond perfect for **swimming**. They splashed and played, the bear creating waves with his big paws while Maya practiced her baseball pitches across the water.
"You're amazing!" Maya laughed.
"And you're very brave," the bear replied. "Most children run away when they see me. But you stayed. That's how real friendships begin – by not judging others by how they look."
As sunset painted the sky pink and orange, the bear handed Maya a special pinecone. "Whenever you feel lonely, hold this and think of our game. Friends are never truly far away."
Maya hugged the bear's soft fur. "Will I see you again?"
"Look for me during summer storms," the bear winked. "That's when I come out to play."
That night, Maya fell asleep with the pinecone on her nightstand, dreaming of baseball games, magical swimming adventures, and the wonderful bear who taught her that the best friendships come when you're brave enough to say hello.
