The Lightning Baseball Squad
Ten-year-old Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run.
One rainy afternoon, the sky turned dark purple. Leo stayed at the park anyway, practicing his swing. Then he saw something amazing—a real baseball game happening in the clouds above! Angels with glowing wings were playing with a ball that flashed like lightning.
Leo's heart raced. He had to see closer. The wind lifted him gently, and suddenly Leo was floating beside the cloud field. An angel with silver hair waved. "Want to play?"
"Yes!" Leo cheered.
The angel tossed him the lightning ball. It buzzed in his hands, warm and tingling. Leo swung his bat—CRACK! The ball sailed through clouds, leaving a trail of sparkling light.
"You're a natural," said the angel captain. "We need a spy on Earth. Someone to watch over lonely kids and send them happy thoughts."
Leo's chest swelled with pride. "Me? A spy?"
The angels gave him a magical papaya that glowed golden. "When someone feels sad, take a bite. You'll know exactly how to help."
Leo floated back to Earth, the papaya tucked safely in his pocket. That night, he saw his neighbor Maya crying on her porch. Her dog had run away.
Leo remembered his mission. He took a small bite of the magical papaya. Instant warmth filled him. He knew exactly where to look—behind the old oak tree, there was Buster, happily wagging his tail.
"Maya! I found him!" Leo called.
Maya's tears turned to smiles. "How did you know?"
Leo winked. "I have my ways."
From that day on, Leo became the secret lightning spy of his neighborhood. Every kid who felt lonely somehow found a new friend. Every lost toy turned up in surprising places. And Leo's baseball team? They never lost another game, thanks to the lucky lightning ball that sometimes appeared in his pocket.
The papaya never ran out. No matter how many times Leo took a bite, it remained full—reminding him that kindness, like magic, multiplies when shared.
