The Lightning Baseball Game

Tommy loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park where his best friend Maya was already waiting. They'd practice pitching and catching until the sun went down.

One hot afternoon, dark clouds gathered overhead. The air felt strange—thick and buzzing with electricity. Maya pointed at the sky. 'Look!' A streak of lightning flashed across the clouds like golden chalk on a blackboard.

'We should go home,' Tommy said, but Maya was already walking toward home plate. 'One last pitch?' she begged with big eyes.

Tommy couldn't say no. He wound up and threw his best fastball. Maya swung her bat—CRACK! The ball soared into the dark clouds. Then something magical happened. The lightning struck the baseball, and suddenly it was glowing like a little star!

The ball began floating instead of falling. It hovered above them, pulsing with light. Then it started moving—slowly at first, then faster, zigzagging through the air like the lightning itself.

'Catch it!' Maya cried, and they were running, chasing the magical baseball across the park. It led them through the playground, around the pond, and toward the old oak tree. With every step, the ball glowed brighter.

When they finally caught it under the oak tree, the light didn't fade. Instead, tiny bolts of harmless lightning danced around them, spelling out words in the air: FRIENDSHIP FOREVER.

The thunder rumbled softly, sounding like laughter. Tommy and Maya sat under the tree, holding the glowing baseball between them. The storm passed quickly, leaving behind a rainbow that arched right over home plate.

'Best game ever,' Maya whispered.

'The best,' Tommy agreed.

Every time they played baseball after that, the ball still glowed a little—just enough to remind them that magic exists when you're together, running hand in hand with your best friend.
