The iPhone That Made Wishes

Lily loved her iPhone. She played games on it every day after school. But one sunny afternoon, something magical happened.

Lily was sitting by the sparkling blue stream behind her house when she dropped her iPhone. *Plop!* It sank into the flowing water.

"Oh no!" Lily cried. But just then, the water began to glow. A tiny girl with shimmering blue hair popped up from the surface, holding the iPhone. It was completely dry!

"Hello!" said the water girl. "I'm Marina. I live in the water, and I've been watching you play games. But you never seem to have any fun with real friends."

Lily felt her cheeks get hot. It was true.

Marina tapped the iPhone, and suddenly the screen showed real games—hopscotch, tag, hide-and-seek. "This phone can show you fun," Marina said, "but real friends make the magic happen. Want to play?"

For hours, Lily and Marina played by the stream. They skipped stones, made leaf boats, and laughed until their sides hurt. The iPhone sat forgotten on the grass.

When the sun began to set, Marina handed something to Lily—a beautiful smooth stone that sparkled like the water. "Keep this. Whenever you feel lonely, hold it and remember: the best friend isn't on a screen. They're right beside you, waiting to play."

Marina disappeared into the water with a splash and a wave.

That night, Lily didn't play games on her iPhone. Instead, she called her friend Emma. "Want to come over tomorrow?" she asked. "I found a magical stream behind my house."

Lily kept the sparkly stone on her nightstand. And whenever she reached for her iPhone, she remembered: real magic doesn't need batteries.
