The Hat That Saw Magic
Lily found the old iPhone in her grandmother's attic. It didn't work anymore, but Grandma said it was magic. "This phone captured wishes, my dear. Take it—and wear this hat." Grandma handed Lily a purple velvet hat with silver stars.
That night, Lily peeked through her window. Something was moving in the garden! She grabbed the magic iPhone and pulled on her hat. Outside, under the moonlight, she saw him—a zombie!
But this zombie wasn't like the ones in movies. He had messy green hair full of tiny flowers, and he was dancing clumsily among the roses. Lily wasn't scared. Something about the glowing iPhone screen made her see things differently.
"Hello?" she called.
The zombie froze. His hair flowers trembled. "I'm Z-Ziggy," he stammered. "I'm not scary. I'm just lonely."
Lily stepped closer. Her hat twinkled. "Why are you in my garden?"
"I'm a Garden Guardian," Ziggy said proudly. "I make flowers grow. But everyone runs away when they see me."
Lily's magic iPhone suddenly flickered to life! It showed a picture of Ziggy surrounded by beautiful butterflies. "You're not a zombie," Lily gasped. "You're magical!"
"My green hair helps plants grow," Ziggy explained shyly. "And I move slowly so I don't hurt any bugs."
Lily smiled. "Will you be my friend?"
Ziggy's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Really!" Lily said. "And I'll make sure everyone knows how wonderful you are."
Every night after that, Lily wore her magic hat and visited Ziggy. They danced under the stars, planted new flowers, and the iPhone captured all their happy moments. When other children saw Ziggy through Lily's magical phone, they didn't see a zombie—they saw a friend.
Sometimes, Lily learned, the scariest things are just the most wonderful friends waiting to be discovered.
