The Hat That Saved the Magic Bull
Lily loved her rainbow hat more than anything. It had a sparkly star on top, and she wore it everywhere—even when she wasn't supposed to.
One hot afternoon, Lily sat by the sparkling stream behind her house, dangling her feet in the cool water. Her dad had given her his old iphone to play with, but he'd warned her: "This is special. Keep it safe."
But Lily was balancing the iphone on her knee while watching dragonflies dance over the water, and—splash! It tumbled right into the stream.
"No!" Lily cried. But as she reached for it, something magical happened. The iphone didn't sink. Instead, it floated, glowing with soft golden light that rippled across the water like sunshine.
Suddenly, the stream began to bubble and swirl. From the water emerged a magnificent creature—a great silver bull with eyes like midnight stars and horns that shone like polished moonlight.
"Thank you," the bull spoke in a voice like distant thunder, gentle and warm. "For years, I've been trapped beneath these waters. Only someone who drops a piece of their heart into the water could free me."
Lily's mouth fell open. "But that was just my dad's old iphone..."
"Ah," the bull smiled, "but you love your father, and you cherished his gift. That made it part of your heart."
The bull lowered his massive head. "I am the Guardian of Forgotten Wishes. I grant one wish to whoever frees me, but I see your rainbow hat shines with kindness already. Perhaps there's someone else who needs my magic more."
Lily thought about her grandmother, whose garden had dried up because of the long summer drought. "Could you help my grandmother's flowers bloom again?"
The bull nodded, and as his horn touched the water, raindrops began to fall—gentle, perfect drops that watered every garden in the valley.
"A wise choice," said the bull, diving back into the shimmering water. The iphone floated to the surface, good as new.
That evening, Lily's grandmother's garden was bursting with flowers. Lily touched her rainbow hat and smiled. Sometimes, she learned, the best magic comes from kindness—and sometimes, even mistakes can lead to wonderful adventures.
