The Hat That Caught Lightning

Maya lived in a house where the attic door always creaked like a sleepy dragon. One rainy afternoon, while searching for old board games, she found something strange tucked behind a dusty trunk — a floppy purple hat with a note pinned to its brim: "This hat loves to catch lightning!"

Outside, thunder rumbled like a giant tummy ache. Maya's best friend Sam was supposed to come over, but the storm was too fierce. Suddenly, the strangest thing happened. A tiny bolt of lightning somehow slipped through the attic window crack and ZAP — it hit the purple hat!

The hat began to glow, warm and tingly in Maya's palm. She picked it up, and suddenly whoosh — she was floating! The hat lifted her right through the roof and up into the storm clouds, where she saw something incredible. A tiny cloud creature was crying because he'd lost his pocketful of magic rain vitamins that made storms gentle instead of scary.

"I can help!" Maya called. The hat, now sparkling with lightning power, zipped around like a happy bumblebee, catching every single glowing vitamin droplet. Maya returned them to the little cloud, who was so grateful he blew the biggest, gentlest rainbow Maya had ever seen.

When Maya floated back down, Sam was just arriving with his umbrella. His mouth dropped open. "Maya, why are you wearing a glowing purple hat?"

She grinned and touched the brim. "Because sometimes the best adventures happen when you catch a little lightning — especially with a good friend by your side."

That night, the safest thunderstorm rolled through town. And in the attic, the purple hat gave a tiny spark, waiting for its next adventure.
