The Hat That Befriended Lightning
Leo loved his fluffy blue hat more than anything. It had a golden star on the front, and Leo was convinced it possessed magical powers. Every night, he'd place it on his windowsill to catch wishes from falling stars.
One stormy night, a brilliant flash of lightning illuminated the garden below. Leo gasped. There, standing between the tulips and daisies, was a small green figure with button eyes and messy stitching - a toy zombie that had come alive!
The zombie shivered with every lightning crack, covering its patchworked face with tiny green hands. It wasn't scary at all. It looked lonely and afraid.
Leo grabbed his magical hat and rushed outside. The rain poured down, but he didn't care.
"Don't be scared," Leo said gently, placing his blue hat on the zombie's head. "This hat protects against anything. Even lightning."
The zombie blinked its button eyes. A lightning bolt struck nearby - but the hat glowed golden, creating a warm shield around them both. The zombie's stitched smile widened.
"I've been wandering for so long," the zombie squeaked in a voice like rustling leaves. "Lightning always chased me away. But your hat... it feels like friendship."
From that night on, the zombie - whose name was Zippy - became Leo's midnight friend. During stormy weather, they'd dance in the golden glow of the magic hat, catching lightning fireflies in glass jars and making wishes on every flash.
Leo learned that the scariest things often just need a little kindness - and sometimes, a magical hat to help them shine.
And whenever lightning struck the sky, Leo and Zippy would wave at the storm, their blue hat glowing warm between them, turning thunder into music and fear into friendship.
