The Halloween Pond Party

Luna the cat loved Halloween more than any fish loved water. This year, she wore her favorite costume - a sparkly purple dress with fake stitches drawn on her face. She was a zombie princess!

"I'm going swimming tonight," Luna told her mother. "The full moon makes the pond magical."

Her mother smiled. "Be careful, my little zombie."

Luna trotted to the pond, her purple glitter glowing in the moonlight. But she wasn't alone. A beautiful orange fox sat by the water's edge, watching ripples dance.

"You're a zombie!" the fox gasped, jumping backward.

Luna laughed. "I'm Luna. It's just a costume. I love swimming on Halloween night."

The fox's tail swished happily. "I'm Finnegan! I was scared, but I love Halloween too. Are you a friend?"

"I'd like to be," Luna purred. "Want to see something magical?"

She stepped into the pond. The water shimmered with tiny lights - bioluminescent creatures that only appeared on Halloween! Luna swam gracefully, her zombie makeup staying perfectly waterproof.

Finnegan's eyes went wide. "Foxes can't swim like cats. But maybe... I could splash?"

Luna nodded. "The pond loves everyone."

Finnegan dipped one paw, then another. Soon he was splashing joyfully, sending glowing droplets flying like moonlight rain.

They played until midnight, a zombie cat and a fox friend, discovering that the best magic isn't in costumes or spooky stories - it's finding friends who accept you, stitches and sparkles and all.

"Same time next year?" Finnegan asked as Luna dried off.

"Only if you wear a costume too," Luna winked.

And somewhere in the darkness, the pond glowed a little brighter, happy to have taught two new friends its oldest, most magical lesson: true friendship sees past appearances to the heart beneath.
