The Hair-Cutting Sphinx of Wonder Pool

Lily loved exploring the woods behind her house. One sunny afternoon, she discovered something magical - a shimmering blue pool she'd never seen before. The water sparkled like diamonds, and the air smelled of sweet jasmine.

"Hello, little one," a rumbly voice echoed from the trees.

Lily gasped as a magnificent sphinx stepped out from behind an ancient oak tree. The sphinx had the body of a golden lion, powerful wings, and the face of a wise woman. But the most amazing thing was her hair - long, flowing golden hair that dragged on the ground, tangling around roots and rocks.

"Oh dear," the sphinx sighed sadly. "My beautiful hair has grown too long. I haven't been able to see where I'm going for weeks! But sphinxes cannot cut their own hair. It's an ancient rule."

Lily's eyes lit up. "I can help! My grandma is a hairdresser. She taught me how to cut hair perfectly."

The sphinx's eyes twinkled. "Would you really? I would be forever grateful."

Lily pulled a small silver scissors from her pocket - she always carried them for crafts. With careful, steady hands, she began trimming the sphinx's golden locks. The hair felt like spun silk between her fingers.

The sphinx purred with happiness as layer after layer fell away, revealing her kind, wise face for the first time in centuries.

"Thank you, Lily," the sphinx said, smiling warmly. "For your kindness, I grant you one wish."

Lily thought carefully. "I wish that this magical pool would always be here for other children who need a friend."

The sphinx nodded with approval. "A wish that helps others is the best wish of all. From now on, any kind child who finds this pool will meet a friend who needs their help."

And so the Wonder Pool became a place where kindness always found its way home.
