The Green Pool Magic
Lily discovered the old swimming pool behind her grandmother's house on a hot July afternoon. But this wasn't just any pool—it was empty, cracked, and filled with something strange.
"Grandma, why is there spinach in the pool?" Lily called, running back to the kitchen.
Grandma smiled, her eyes twinkling. "Oh, that's not spinach, dear. That's Moon-Green, the most magical plant in the world. It only grows in places where children's dreams have been forgotten."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "Forgotten dreams?"
"Yes," Grandma nodded. "Every time a child stops believing something is possible, a little Moon-Green grows. But there's a secret—splash water on it, and those dreams come back."
Lily rushed to the garden hose and filled a bucket with water. Her heart pounded as she approached the pool. What if Grandma was just telling stories? But something about the shimmering green leaves made her believe.
She splashed the water over the plants.
Suddenly, the pool began to glow. Green light swirled like tiny fireflies. The spinach-like plants transformed into glowing emerald butterflies that fluttered upward, carrying whispers of forgotten dreams—a skateboard that could fly, a blanket fort that became a castle, a puppy who could sing.
One butterfly landed on Lily's nose. She felt a warm, happy feeling spread through her chest. She remembered something she had stopped believing—that she could learn to do a cartwheel.
"The magic works both ways," Grandma said softly from behind her. "When you believe again, you help others remember too."
That night, Lily did her first cartwheel in the backyard under the stars. The empty pool beside her shimmered with green light, waiting for more forgotten dreams to bloom again.
