The Green Guardian's Secret
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic, especially on rainy afternoons. The dusty boxes held treasures from long ago — shiny costumes, old books, and mysterious toys. But today, something moved beneath a pile of blankets.
A small green figure stumbled out. It looked like a tiny zombie, with patchy skin and stitches, but its eyes sparkled like stars. "Hello!" it said. "I'm Zombly, and I've been sleeping for seventy years!"
Lily wasn't scared. Zombly was funny and kind, not scary at all. He told her about his best friend, Barnaby the Bull, who guarded the magical water spring behind the old farmhouse. But something had gone wrong — Barnaby had fallen into a deep sleep, and only true friendship could wake him.
"The magical water gives wishes," Zombly explained. "But it only works for pure hearts."
Together, they tiptoed through the garden, past whispering trees and glowing fireflies. They found Barnaby — a magnificent bull with golden horns — curled beside a shimmering pool. The water rippled like liquid silver, reflecting the moon.
Lily knelt beside the sleeping bull. She remembered how lonely she'd felt before moving to Grandmother's house. With all her heart, she whispered, "I wish for a friend."
A tear rolled down her cheek and splashed into the magical water. Ripples of blue and gold spread outward. Barnaby's eyes fluttered open.
"Friendship is the strongest magic," the bull said gently, lowering his huge head so Lily could pet his velvet nose.
From that day on, Lily was never lonely. She had two secret friends who taught her that magic lives in kindness, that appearances don't matter, and that the best wishes are the ones shared with friends.
And every full moon, if you look closely at the old farmhouse, you might still see a green figure, a gentle bull, and a laughing girl dancing by the silver water, making wishes that always come true.
