The Goldfish Who Whispered to Stars
Lily's best friend was a tiny goldfish named Fin who lived in a glass bowl on her nightstand. But Fin was no ordinary goldfish—he could talk! Though he only spoke when the moon was full.
One starry night, Fin bubbled to the surface. "Lily! I've forgotten how to twinkle!" He swam in frantic circles. "A bear stole my star-dust!"
Lily's dog, Buster, perked up his floppy ears. A bear in their backyard?
The three friends crept outside. There, beneath the old palm tree, sat a massive brown bear. But this bear wasn't scary—he was crying.
"I only wanted to shine," the bear sniffled. "The other bears made fun of my plain fur."
Lily's heart melted. She sat beside him. "Everyone shines differently. Look at Fin—he's small, but he talks to stars!"
Fin swam forward in his portable bowl. "And look at Buster—he's scruffy, but he's the bravest dog I know!"
The bear blinked. "You really think I shine?"
"We'll help you!" Lily said.
They worked all night. Buster gathered fireflies. Lily wove palm fronds into a sparkling crown. Fin blew bubbles that caught the moonlight, turning into tiny stars.
When the sun rose, the bear gasped at his reflection. He glittered with star-dust, wore a palm-leaf crown, and fireflies danced around him like living jewels.
"You're beautiful!" Lily said. "Because you're YOU."
The bear smiled, returning Fin's stolen star-dust. "Thank you for helping me see that being different is what makes us special."
From then on, every full moon, the bear visited. He, Lily, Buster, and Fin would sit beneath the palm tree, making wishes on stars and celebrating friendship.
And Lily learned the most important lesson: true friends help you discover your own special kind of shine.
