The Goldfish Who Swam Through Walls

Emma's goldfish, Fin, lived in a glass bowl on her nightstand, but he dreamed of oceans. Beyond Emma's window, a tall palm tree waved its fronds in the breeze like green fingers beckoning him to explore.

Every afternoon, Emma pressed her palm against the glass and whispered, "Someday, little fish. Someday you'll see the sea."

One night, a magical thing happened. A forgotten cable from Emma's old lamp touched the windowsill, and something sparked—not electricity, but magic!

Fin felt a tingling in his golden scales. The water began to glow. He swam toward the cable, and instead of bumping into glass, he slipped right through! He found himself sliding through the cable like it was a water slide, zooming through walls and floors.

Suddenly—WHOOSH!—Fin tumbled out into something amazing. The cable had led him inside the palm tree! But this wasn't ordinary tree bark. The inside was hollow and filled with tiny, glowing fairies who tended to a beautiful miniature ocean.

"A visitor!" squealed a fairy with butterfly wings. "The cable has brought us a friend!"

Fin discovered that years ago, a magical cable had connected this fairy ocean to Emma's house. But nobody had used it in so long that everyone had forgotten—until Fin's adventurous spirit woke it up again.

The fairies showed Fin wonders: singing seashells, dancing starfish, and coral reefs that changed color like rainbows. Fin played until the moon began to set.

"You must return," the fairy told him. "But visit us anytime. The cable will always be waiting for brave adventurers."

Fin swam back through the magical cable, arriving in his bowl just as Emma's alarm clock began to ring.

When Emma woke, she pressed her palm against the glass and gasped. "Fin! You're glowing!"

Fin did glow—a tiny bit of fairy magic still shimmering on his scales. He swam to the glass and did a happy flip, and Emma swore she could hear tiny bells chiming from somewhere far away.

That night, Emma pressed her palm against the glass and whispered, "I know your secret, Fin. And I'm so glad you have adventures. But I'm glad you always come home."

Fin knew then that the best adventures are the ones you can share with a friend who believes in magic—even if they can't swim through cables to find it.
