The Goldfish Who Swam Through Starlight
Lily's pet goldfish, Finnegan, was no ordinary fish. He lived in a glass bowl on her nightstand, but his scales shimmered with colors that changed with her mood—happy pink, curious blue, sleepy purple.
One rainy afternoon, Lily was playing on her iPhone when she noticed something strange. Whenever she held the phone near Finnegan's bowl, tiny bubbles would rise up from his mouth, forming shapes in the water. A bubble heart. A bubble star. A bubble smile.
"Finnegan, can you understand me?" Lily whispered, leaning closer.
The goldfish swished his golden tail and created a bubble that looked exactly like a little fish saying YES.
Lily's grandmother had given her a special orange from her garden that morning. It was the brightest orange Lily had ever seen, glowing like a tiny sun. She placed it on the nightstand beside Finnegan's bowl.
Suddenly, Finnegan's scales turned the exact same brilliant orange. He swam faster and faster, creating a whirlpool of bubbles. Then, something magical happened—Finnegan swam right through the glass!
Lily gasped as Finnegan floated in the air, his body glowing with orange light. He nudged her iPhone with his nose, and the screen showed a message: "ADVENTURE AWAITS."
The orange began to glow brighter, too. Tiny sparks of light drifted from it, forming a pathway leading out Lily's window and into the garden.
"Are you inviting me on an adventure?" Lily asked, her heart racing with excitement.
Finnegan did a happy flip in the air, and more bubbles formed the words: FOLLOW ME.
Lily grabbed her coat and followed the glowing path through her garden. Each step felt like walking on sunshine. At the end of the path, she found her grandmother, who was smiling mysteriously.
"I knew you'd find your way here," her grandmother said. "That orange was special—it grows only in our garden when someone with a pure heart needs magic. And Finnegan... well, he's been waiting for someone like you for a very long time."
That day, Lily learned that magic exists in the most unexpected places—a goldfish's shimmer, an ordinary orange, even the glow of an iPhone screen. You just need to believe.
