The Goldfish Who Swam Through Screens

Lily sat by the old pond behind her grandmother's house, watching the water sparkle like diamonds in the afternoon sun. Her long brown hair floated around her shoulders as she leaned forward, fascinated by the ripples dancing across the surface.

Suddenly, a flash of orange caught her eye. A beautiful goldfish with fins that shimmered like silk ribbons swam right up to where she sat. Its scales gleamed with every color of the rainbow.

"Hello there," Lily whispered, holding her iPhone carefully. She'd been taking pictures of dragonflies when the goldfish appeared.

The goldfish swished its tail—so elegant it reminded her of flowing hair—and suddenly, Lily's iPhone screen flickered. Instead of showing the dragonfly photo, it began glowing with soft blue light.

"That's my favorite game," the goldfish said, though its mouth never moved. Lily almost dropped her phone in the water!

"You can talk through my iPhone?" she asked, amazed.

"I can swim through anything that shows pictures of water," the goldfish explained, swirling gracefully. "My name is Coral. Would you like to see my world?"

Lily nodded, her eyes wide with wonder. Coral swam closer, and suddenly Lily's iPhone showed a whole kingdom beneath the pond—castles made of pearls, gardens of swaying seaweed, and fish playing tag among ancient treasures.

"Come visit!" Coral said. "Just touch the screen."

But then Lily's mom called from the house. "Lily! Time for dinner!"

Lily looked at Coral, then at her phone, then at the darkening sky. "Can I come back tomorrow?"

"Every day," Coral promised. "Real magic doesn't need batteries."

That night, Lily dreamed of underwater castles and a friend who could swim through screens. She learned that sometimes the most wonderful adventures are waiting right beneath the surface—whether in water, in friendship, or in things we think we already know.

The next morning, Lily rushed back to the pond. And there was Coral, waiting with fins flowing like magical hair, ready for another day of friendship that could swim between two worlds.
