The Goldfish Who Swam Through Lightning

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon, he'd grab his worn-out glove and run to the park, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run. But today, dark clouds gathered overhead as rumbling thunder shook the ground.

Rain began to fall just as Leo reached the old pond behind the baseball diamond. That's when he saw it—a tiny goldfish flopping helplessly in the mud, far from any water. Without thinking, Leo scooped up the little fish and carried it to his backyard pool.

"Thank you," said a tiny voice.

Leo nearly dropped the goldfish. "You can talk?"

"I'm Glimmer," the fish said, its scales shining like tiny stars. "And you're my friend." She swam in graceful circles, creating ripples that sparkled like magic. "I can grant you one wish for saving me."

Leo's eyes lit up. "I want to be the best baseball player ever!"

Glimmer smiled. "I can make that happen. But first, you must learn something important."

Suddenly, lightning flashed across the sky, striking the pool. But instead of hurting Glimmer, the lightning made her glow even brighter. "Swimming through lightning taught me that true power comes from courage, not just skill," she said. "Now you'll swim through the air like I swim through water."

The next day, Leo stepped up to the plate. He could feel something magical—like he was swimming through the air. When the pitch came, he swung with all his heart. The ball sailed higher and farther than ever before, disappearing into the clouds like a shooting star.

His teammates cheered, but Leo just smiled at the goldfish swimming in his pocket-sized aquarium. He realized something better than being the best: he had found a friend who made every day magical.

And whenever lightning flashed during a game, Leo would wink at the sky, knowing Glimmer was swimming through the storm, reminding him that the real magic wasn't in winning—it was in kindness and friendship.
