The Goldfish Who Swam in the Sky

Lily was running through the park after supper when she saw something impossible. A goldfish was swimming through the air, right beside the old oak tree.

"Hello there!" called Lily, stopping so fast her red hair whipped across her face. The goldfish swam closer, shimmering like a tiny orange star.

"I'm Finn," said the goldfish. "And I need your help."

Lily had never talked to a fish before, but she nodded anyway. "What do you need?"

"I live in the Cloud Kingdom, but I dropped my bottle of flying vitamins," Finn explained sadly. "Without them, I can't swim back home. I'll be stuck swimming in air forever."

Lily looked up. Way up, where the telephone cable stretched between two tall poles, she saw something sparkling. A tiny glass bottle caught in the wires.

"I can climb that!" Lily said bravely.

"But you're a person," said Finn. "People can't climb cables like squirrels can."

"Watch me!" Lily grabbed the cable. It was thick and strong, perfect for climbing. Up she went, hand over hand, while Finn swam beside her, encouraging her every step.

Halfway up, something magical happened. Every time Lily moved, her brown hair grew longer and thicker, wrapping around the cable like a helper's hand. The hair knew just what to do!

"Your hair is helping us!" Finn cheered.

Finally, they reached the top. There sat the bottle of magical vitamins, glowing like a tiny moon. Lily grabbed it carefully and climbed back down, her hair still guiding the way.

Finn ate one vitamin and immediately began floating upward. "Thank you, Lily! You're the best friend a fish could ask for."

He swam higher and higher until he became another orange sparkle in the night sky.

That night, Lily fell asleep with a smile. She had helped a friend, climbed to the sky, and discovered that sometimes the most magical helpers are the ones you never expected — even your own hair.
