The Goldfish Who Swam in Orange Juice

Leo had the wildest hair in second grade. It stuck up like brown grass after a storm, no matter how much his mom tried to comb it flat. Every morning before school, she gave him his vitamin and sighed, "Maybe tomorrow it'll behave."

One rainy Saturday, Leo was eating breakfast when something strange happened. He poured his morning orange juice, but instead of a splash, he heard a tiny voice say, "Excuse me, you're missing the best part!"

Leo looked down. A tiny goldfish with sparkly rainbow scales was swimming in his orange juice!

"I'm Finnigan," said the goldfish. "And you're Leo with the Magnificent Hair."

"Magnificent?" Leo frowned. "Everyone says it's messy."

Finnigan did a flip in the orange juice. "Messy? No way! Your hair shows how many ideas you have. Each little stick-up part is an adventure waiting to happen!"

Leo's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Really!" Finnigan blew bubbles that turned into tiny butterflies. "I'm a Vitamin Spirit. I live inside orange things to help kids see their own magic. Your hair isn't messy—it's FULL of magic!"

Finnigan sprinkled golden dust on Leo's head. Suddenly, Leo's hair floated upward like it was underwater. He could feel ideas buzzing in every strand.

"Tomorrow at school," Finnigan whispered, "your hair will help you make friends. Someone needs your ideas."

The next morning, Leo's mom was surprised. His hair still stuck up, but now it shimmered like sunshine. At recess, Leo noticed a girl named Sophie sitting alone, reading.

His hair tickled—like it was telling him something. Leo sat beside her. "I like that book. My hair has adventures too."

Sophie giggled. "Your hair does look like it's having fun!"

They became best friends. Leo learned that the things that make us different are actually our own special kind of magic. And sometimes, the best adventures start with something as simple as a goldfish in your orange juice.
