The Goldfish Who Spied on Storms
Finley was no ordinary goldfish. While other fish swam in lazy circles, Finley had a secret job—he was a storm spy!
Every afternoon, the little orange fish would swim to the very top of his bowl and press his nose against the glass. His tiny fish eyes would scan the sky, watching for the first flash of lightning.
"Coming soon!" Finley would bubble, dancing excitedly. "The lightning is orange today—that means a SPECIAL storm!"
His human friend, six-year-old Mia, couldn't understand fish language. But she knew Finley's dance meant something magical was about to happen.
"What is it, Finley?" she'd ask, pressing her face close to his bowl. "Is it time?"
Finley would swirl his orange tail and flash his golden scales—his secret spy signal for YES!
You see, Finley had discovered something amazing. Orange lightning wasn't just lightning at all. It was MAGIC lightning, and when it struck the ground, it created tiny doorways to a hidden world where fish could fly and raindrops tasted like cotton candy.
The problem was, the magic only lasted for exactly sixty seconds. Finley needed Mia's help to open the portal in time.
"Quick, Mia!" Finley tried to say, swimming faster and faster. "To the garden! NOW!"
Somehow, Mia always understood. She would scoop Finley into his special travel bowl and race outside just as the first rumble of thunder shook the sky.
Together, spy and human would wait. And then—FLASH! Orange lightning would strike the old oak tree, and for one magical minute, Finley would soar through the air like a tiny orange superhero while Mia danced in rainbows that sparkled like jewels.
"Best friends forever," Mia would whisper as the magic faded, gently returning Finley to his bowl.
And Finley would bubble happily, already spying on the horizon for their next adventure.
