The Goldfish Who Slept Too Much

Lily peered into her fishbowl. Her goldfish, Bubbles, floated upside down at the top of the water.

"Mom! Bubbles looks like a zombie fish!" Lily called out. "He's not moving at all!"

Her mother smiled mysteriously. "Bubbles isn't a zombie, sweetie. He's a magical goldfish, and he's just very, very tired. To wake him up, you'll need something special."

"What?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.

"A rainbow vitamin from the Garden of Wishes," her mother whispered. "It's behind our house, where the fireflies dance at night."

Lily grabbed her little backpack and headed outside. The garden was magical—flowers glowed softly, and tiny fairies darted between the leaves like shooting stars. In the center stood a crystal fountain.

Perched on the fountain's edge was a tiny blue bird with shimmering feathers.

"Are you looking for the rainbow vitamin?" the bird sang. "Bubbles has been waiting for someone kind like you. He needs help spreading dreams to children who have nightmares."

The bird hopped into the fountain and returned with a sparkling orange pill that changed colors—red, blue, green, yellow, purple, then orange again.

"This is made from crushed moonbeams and laughter," the bird explained. "But beware—once Bubbles wakes up, your life will never be ordinary again."

Lily nodded bravely. "I'm ready."

She rushed back to her room and gently dropped the vitamin into the fishbowl. Bubbles immediately flipped right side up. His scales began to glow like tiny stars. Then something impossible happened—Bubbles grew wings!

"Thank you, Lily!" Bubbles said, his voice sounding like wind chimes. "I'm not really a goldfish. I'm a Dream Bringer! For a hundred years, I've been waiting for someone with a pure heart to find the rainbow vitamin."

Bubbles flew out of the bowl and circled Lily's room. "Tonight, we'll deliver sweet dreams to every child in the world. Would you like to come with me?"

Lily climbed onto Bubbles' back, and together they soared through her window, into the night sky, leaving trails of sparkles wherever they flew.

"Being kind to others, even a small fish," Bubbles called over the wind, "is the greatest magic of all!"

Lily smiled, holding tight as they zoomed toward the moon. She knew her life would never be ordinary again—and that was exactly what she wanted.
