The Goldfish Who Saved the Farm
Leo loved his pet goldfish, Finny. But Finny was no ordinary fish — he had shimmering scales that changed color like a rainbow.
One sunny afternoon, Leo was running through his grandfather's farm when he heard a loud snort. Behind the old barn stood a enormous bull with the gentlest brown eyes Leo had ever seen.
"I'm stuck," the bull said softly.
Leo blinked. "You can talk?"
"Only when I'm really worried," the bull explained. "There's a spooky creature in the cornfield. It moans and walks funny. The other animals call it a zombie."
Leo's heart beat faster. He pulled out his iPhone to call his grandpa, but the screen showed something strange — ripples of golden light were flowing from Finny's bowl (which Leo had brought along) through the phone screen.
"Finny!" Leo cried. The goldfish leaped from his bowl and transformed into a magnificent golden horse with rainbow wings.
"Hop on!" Finny whinnied.
Leo climbed onto Finny's back, and they soared over the cornfield. Below, they saw the so-called zombie — it was just the neighbor's old dog, Buster, wearing his Halloween costume from last year! Buster had gotten his head stuck in an old zombie mask and was wandering around, confused.
Finny landed gently. Leo helped Buster out of the mask. The happy dog wagged his tail and licked Leo's cheek.
"Thank you!" the bull called from the barn. "You're very brave."
Finny transformed back into a goldfish and swam happily in his bowl. Leo smiled, realizing that sometimes scary things aren't scary at all — they just need a little help and understanding.
That night, Leo drifted off to sleep, dreaming of golden wings and friendly zombies, knowing that with courage and kindness, anything was possible.
