The Goldfish Who Rode Lightning

In a tiny blue bowl on a windowsill lived Finnigan, the most peculiar goldfish anyone had ever seen. While most goldfish were content to swim in circles, Finnigan spent his days pressing his nose against the glass, watching the world outside.

One afternoon, as the sky turned the color of a ripe orange, Finnigan noticed something extraordinary. High above the clouds, a magnificent creature was galloping through the storm. It was a bull — but not like any bull from the farm below. This bull was made entirely of swirling gray clouds, with eyes that crackled like tiny stars.

"Hello up there!" Finnigan called, surprising himself by speaking. Cloud bulls must have excellent hearing, because this one looked down straight at the fishbowl.

The cloud bull drifted closer, and Finnigan could see that lightning danced across its back like a sparkling saddle. "I'm Nimbus," the bull rumbled gently. "And I've never met a fish who wanted to say hello before."

"I'm Finnigan, and I've never met a bull made of clouds before!" Finnigan bubbled with excitement. "Do you ever let anyone ride on your back?"

Nimbus's eyes twinkled. "Only those who are brave enough to hold on tight."

Without thinking, Finnigan wished with all his heart to be up there. Magically, he found himself floating out of his bowl, wrapped in a warm bubble of air. Nimbus lowered a cloud hoof, and Finnigan carefully climbed onto the bull's back, right where the lightning made the most beautiful patterns.

They soared through the storm, faster than Finnigan had ever moved. The world below became a patchwork quilt of green fields and tiny houses. Finnigan had never felt so alive.

"Why were you in that little bowl?" Nimbus asked as they raced through a rainbow.

"I was waiting," Finnigan realized. "Waiting for someone like you to show me that the world is bigger than I imagined."

Nimbus smiled. "Sometimes the best friend is the one you least expect — and the biggest adventures start when you're brave enough to say hello."

When Finnigan returned to his bowl that evening, he was still just a small orange goldfish. But something had changed. Now, when other fish swam in circles, Finnigan swam with purpose, knowing that somewhere up in the clouds, a friend was waiting — and that even the smallest creatures can have the biggest adventures if they're brave enough to dream.
