The Goldfish Who Loved Lightning
Emma's pet goldfish, Finley, was no ordinary fish. While other goldfish swam in lazy circles, Finley would dart around his bowl like a tiny orange rocket, especially during thunderstorms.
One rainy afternoon, Emma was playing padel with her best friend Leo in the garage. CRACK! Lightning struck the telephone pole outside. Sparks flew everywhere!
"Did you see that?" Leo shouted. But Emma was already running inside to check on Finley.
What she saw made her gasp. Finley was glowing! Tiny bolts of lightning danced around his bowl like magical fairy lights. But that wasn't the strangest part...
Finley swam right through the glass and zipped along the television cable! He was surfing electricity like it was a water slide!
"Emma! Come here!" Leo called from the garage. "The TV turned on by itself!"
Emma's eyes went wide. "Finley! Are you in there?"
The news reporter on TV suddenly stopped. Finley's face appeared on the screen, wiggling his fins excitedly. Emma and Leo couldn't believe it — their fish was traveling through cables!
"We have to be spies," Emma whispered. "Let's follow Finley's adventures!"
That night, they watched Finley swim through neighborhood cables, helping people along the way. He fixed Mrs. Chen's internet so she could video call her granddaughter. He made the street lights flicker to help a lost cat find its way home. He even made the ice cream shop's freezer work again just in time for a little boy's birthday party.
"He's not just a goldfish," Leo said. "He's a superhero fish!"
The next morning, Finley was back in his bowl, sleeping peacefully. Emma sprinkled some fish food into the water.
"You know," she told him, "you don't need lightning to be special. You were always a hero."
Finley blew a tiny bubble that floated up and popped — SPARKLE! — leaving a little rainbow in the air.
Emma smiled. Sometimes the most amazing adventures come from the smallest friends, and true magic isn't about superpowers. It's about having a big heart and helping others, no matter how small you are.
