The Goldfish Who Lived in an Orange
In the town of Rainbow Creek, there lived a lonely boy named Oliver who spent his days talking to his garden gnomes. "If only I had a real friend," he sighed one afternoon, peeling a juicy orange.
Suddenly—FLASH BOOM! Lightning zigzagged across the sky, striking Oliver's orange tree. When he looked down at his fruit, something magical happened. The orange began to wiggle and glow golden. Out popped a tiny goldfish with sparkly rainbow scales!
"I'm Gilbert!" squeaked the goldfish, floating in midair. "I've been trapped inside that orange for fifty years!"
Oliver's mouth fell open. "You can fly?"
"Only when lightning magic sets me free!" Gilbert did a happy flip. "I can grant wishes, but first I need the Courage Vitamin from Candy Cane Cave."
Oliver packed a lunch and Gilbert floated beside him as they hiked through Whispering Woods. Trees waved their branches hello, and squirrels offered them acorns.
When they reached Candy Cane Cave, a giant grumpy bear blocked the entrance. "None shall pass!" the bear growled.
Gilbert trembled. "I'm too scared."
Oliver took the goldfish's fin. "We'll do it together."
Hand in fin, they marched past the bear—which was actually made of marshmallow! Gilbert giggled and took a bite. "Yum!"
Deep inside the cave, they found the Courage Vitamin—a glowing purple crystal. Gilbert touched it and—WHOOSH! He grew larger and began to shine brighter than a star.
"Now I can grant your wish!" Gilbert announced.
Oliver thought carefully. He looked at the friend who had faced fears with him, laughed with him, and made the world feel magical.
"I wish for you to stay with me forever," Oliver said. "Not as a wish-granter, but as my friend."
Gilbert's eyes twinkled. "The Courage Vitamin worked! You were brave enough to ask for exactly what you needed."
And so Oliver and Gilbert became the best of friends, having adventures every day. Oliver learned that true friendship isn't found—it's made, one brave step at a time.
