The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Running

Finnegan was no ordinary goldfish. While other fish swam in lazy circles, Finnegan pressed his orange nose against the glass of his bowl, watching the children play in the park across the street.

He watched them play padel on the blue court, their rackets going *thwack-thwack* in the sunshine. He watched baseball games where the ball sailed high like a shooting star. But what Finnegan loved most was watching the children run, their feet flying across the grass, their laughter floating through his open window.

"I wish I could run," Finnegan sighed, blowing bubbles that rose to the water's surface.

One starry night, something magical happened. A tiny pyramid made of golden light appeared beside his fishbowl. It glowed and shimmered, and suddenly, a door appeared in its side.

Finnegan's heart did a little flip. The water in his bowl began to bubble and swirl, lifting him up, up, UP until he floated right out of his bowl!

But instead of flopping on the desk, Finnegan found himself swimming through the AIR itself. The magical pyramid had filled his room with waterless water—air he could swim through like a sea!

"Come inside!" called a voice from within the pyramid.

Finnegan swam inside and gasped. The pyramid was bigger on the inside than the outside! There was a padel court where padel-playing penguins invited him to join their game. Finnegan swam through the air, his tail serving as a perfect racket!

Then he discovered a baseball field where beavers played the most magnificent game. When Finnegan swam by, they cheered, "Look at that fish fly!" and let him round the bases, swimming faster than any runner could run.

At the center of the pyramid was a beautiful track made of stardust. Running rabbits invited Finnegan to race, and for the first time in his life, Finnegan ran—swimming really fast through the magical air, his fins working like little legs, his heart soaring higher than any star.

"You're the fastest runner we've ever seen!" the rabbits cheered.

Finnegan laughed and played until the first light of dawn crept through his window. The pyramid began to fade.

"Thank you," Finnegan whispered.

"Remember," the pyramid's voice echoed, "magic lives inside those who dare to dream."

Finnegan swam back into his bowl just as his owner, a little girl named Lily, walked in.

"Good morning, Finnegan!" she said, dropping a flake of food into his bowl. "I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed my fish could run!"

Finnegan swam to the top of his bowl and blew her a special bubble—one that popped into the shape of a tiny golden pyramid.

Some dreams are too wonderful to keep to yourself. And sometimes, the most magical adventures happen to those who are small enough to notice them.
