The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Running
Finn was no ordinary goldfish. While most goldfish were happy swimming in circles, Finn spent his days pressed against the glass of his bowl, watching the world outside with big, wondering eyes.
Every morning, a little girl named Lily would tap gently on his bowl. "Good morning, Finn!" she'd say, dropping a pinch of food into the water. Finn would wiggle his orange fins excitedly. Lily was his best friend, even if she couldn't swim like him.
But Finn had a secret dream. He wanted to go running.
One day, Lily noticed Finn watching her rabbits zoom around the backyard. "You wish you could run too, don't you?" she whispered.
Finn swam to the top and blew a determined bubble.
That afternoon, Lily had an idea. She carefully placed Finn's bowl inside her red wagon. "Hold on, Finn!" she called, and suddenly, Finn's whole world was moving!
The wagon rolled across the backyard. Trees whipped past. Flowers blurred into streaks of pink and yellow. The wind made little ripples dance across Finn's water. He was running! Well, floating-running, but it felt just as wonderful!
They passed the garden where sunflowers stood tall like golden kings. They zoomed past the rabbit hole where fuzzy noses poked out in surprise. Finn's orange scales glimmered in the sunlight as he swam alongside the moving glass, feeling fast and free for the very first time.
"Again! Again!" Lily laughed, pulling Finn around and around the yard.
When the sun began to set, Lily placed Finn's bowl back on his table. Finn swam happy spirals, his heart full of magic and adventure.
"Same time tomorrow, running buddy?" Lily asked.
Finn leaped straight up out of the water – SPLASH! – creating the biggest, most enthusiastic bubble he'd ever made.
That night, as Finn drifted off to sleep among his plastic castle and colorful pebbles, he knew something wonderful: sometimes the best friends are the ones who help your dreams come true, even if your dream is something as silly as a goldfish wanting to go running.
