The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Running
Lily sat cross-legged by her fish bowl, watching her goldfish, Orangeball, swim in slow circles. He was her best friend, even though he couldn't talk back.
Outside, Max the golden retriever ran past her window every day, chasing leaves and butterflies. Lily wished she could run free like Max, but she was stuck inside with a broken leg.
"I wish you could swim through air, Orangeball," she whispered. "Then we could have adventures together."
That night, when moonlight spilled across her room, something magical happened. Orangeball began to glow with soft golden light. He swam upward, right out of his bowl!
Lily gasped as her fish floated through the air like he was swimming in invisible water. His scales shimmered like tiny stars.
"Come with me!" Orangeball said in a bubbly voice. "I know where dreams are made!"
He swam to the window, and Lily followed (well, hopped on her good leg) to the garden. There was Max, waiting with his tail wagging.
"I've been running in circles waiting for you!" Max barked happily.
Together—the girl, the floating goldfish, and the running dog—they went on the most magical adventure. They chased moonbeams, danced with fireflies, and slid down rainbows.
Lily realized something wonderful: she didn't need to run fast to have adventures. She just needed to believe in magic and appreciate her friends.
When morning came, Orangeball swam back to his bowl, and Max returned home. But Lily knew they would always be friends, connected by that one magical night when a goldfish dreamed of running and made a wish come true.
Sometimes the best adventures happen when you least expect them—and with the most unlikely friends.
