The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Running
Lily had a small orange goldfish named Finley who lived in a bowl on her nightstand. Every night before bed, she would tap gently on the glass and whisper, "Goodnight, Finley."
One rainy Saturday, Lily's grandmother came to visit. She brought a bag from her garden filled with green, leafy spinach. "This is nature's vitamin magic," Grandma said with a wink. "It makes you strong like a superhero!"
Lily wasn't so sure about that, but she helped Grandma cook spinach for dinner anyway. After eating, Grandma said, "Now you have swimming power! Want to see?"
Grandma took Lily to the community pool. Lily put on her goggles and jumped in. Something felt different—she could swim faster and longer than ever before! But when she got out of the pool, she saw Finley's bowl on the bench (she'd brought him along for company), and Finny looked sad.
"What's wrong, little buddy?" Lily asked.
Suddenly, the water in Finley's bowl began to glow. Finley's voice echoed in Lily's mind: "I wish I could go swimming with you. But more than that, I dream of running. Imagine—a goldfish running!"
Lily gasped. "You can talk?"
"Only to you," Finley said. "Because you have the spinach power now. And your special vitamin energy lets you hear magical creatures."
That night, Lily had an idea. She filled the bathtub and added magic green glitter that looked like spinach. "Jump in, Finley!"
Finley swam to the magical water and suddenly grew tiny legs! He ran around the tub like a flash of orange lightning.
"I'm running! I'm really running!" Finley cheered.
They played until bedtime, but Lily knew the magic wouldn't last forever. As Finley swam back into his bowl, he said, "Thank you, Lily. You taught me something important."
"What's that?" asked Lily.
"Even a goldfish can dream big dreams. And with a good friend, anything is possible."
