The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Running

In a small blue bowl on a windowsill, lived a tiny orange goldfish named Finley. Every day, Finley watched the world outside his glass home. He saw birds flying, bugs crawling, and children running through the green grass.

"I wish I could go running," Finley sighed, blowing bubbles that floated to the water's surface. "Swimming is wonderful, but imagine how fast I could go on those two legs!"

The other fish in the pet store laughed. "Goldfish don't run! We swim! That's how it's always been."

But Finley had a big imagination, and an even bigger heart.

One stormy afternoon, something magical happened. A little girl named Lily dropped her favorite marble right through the open window. *Splash!* It landed right in Finley's bowl.

Lily peeked through the window, her curly hair framing her worried face. "Oh no! My lucky marble!"

Finley knew what he had to do. With all his might, he pushed that marble up toward the surface. But something strange happened — as soon as his scales touched the marble, they began to shimmer with rainbow colors!

*Whoosh!* In a flash of magic, Finley found himself not swimming, but actually running on tiny fish legs! He scampered across the table, the marble clutched in his fin.

Lily gasped. "You're amazing!" she cried, her eyes wide with wonder.

Finley returned her lucky marble, and Lily carefully placed him back in his bowl. But now, every day after school, Lily would come back. She'd tell Finley stories about her adventures while he swam around happily, showing her his best bubble tricks.

Sometimes, at night when the moon was full, Finley would magically grow legs again, and he and Lily would go running together through the garden, chasing fireflies and laughing under the stars.

Finley learned something wonderful: even a small goldfish can have big dreams, and true friends help make those dreams come true.

And sometimes, the most magical friendships start with a simple splash.
