The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Running
In a cozy blue bowl lived a tiny goldfish named Finnegan. Every day, he watched young Lily run through her room in her bright orange sneakers. Zoom! She would go, faster than the wind.
Finnegan would wiggle his golden tail and dream. "Oh, how I wish I could feel grass beneath my fins!" he bubbles. "I want to run and jump and play!"
One sunny afternoon, Lily noticed Finnegan pressing against the glass, watching her orange sneakers. She giggled and held up an orange slice. "Would you like a treat?"
But when Finnegan nibbled the orange, something magical happened. His scales began to glow! "Thank you, Lily!" said Finnegan. "The orange vitamin inside gives me the power to talk!"
Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can speak?"
"I've always been able to understand," Finnegan said. "But only the orange vitamin lets me share my voice. I've watched you running every day, and I've always dreamed of joining you."
Lily thought carefully. She didn't want Finnegan to be sad. "I have an idea!"
She placed Finnegan's bowl in her red wagon and pulled him outside. Together, they explored—Finnegan swimming in his portable pool, Lily running beside him. They raced through parks, visited gardens filled with orange flowers, and made friends with squirrels and butterflies.
"This is even better than running alone," Lily laughed. "We're adventure buddies!"
Finnegan agreed. "I learned something wonderful today. I don't need to run on land to have adventures. I just need a friend who includes me."
Every day after that, they shared new adventures. And every week, Lily gave Finnegan a tiny piece of orange—a special vitamin that reminded them both that friendship makes anything possible.
The best adventures, they discovered, aren't about doing what everyone else does. They're about finding ways to include everyone, no matter how different they might be.
