The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Pyramids

Elly's goldfish, Finley, was not like other fish. While most goldfish were happy with their castles and colorful gravel, Finley spent his days swimming in patterns that looked like triangles. "One day," he would bubble to Elly, "I'll find the Great Pyramid in the Sky."

Elly would giggle and press her palm against the glass. "But you live in a bowl, Finley!"

"That's what the bear said," Finley would answer mysteriously, though Elly had never seen a bear anywhere near their house.

One rainy afternoon, something magical happened. Elly was reading about Egypt when she pressed her palm to Finny's bowl as usual. This time, the glass rippled like a pond, not like glass at all. A glowing golden fish tail swished through the water, and suddenly Elly wasn't in her room anymore.

She stood in a desert under a sky filled with sparkling diamond stars. And right in front of her rose a magnificent pyramid, shining like honey in the moonlight.

"You came!" Finley had grown enormous now, swimming through the air like it was water. "I told you the bear would help!"

At the pyramid's entrance sat the friendliest bear Elly had ever seen. He wore a tiny fez hat and held a lantern. "Welcome, young traveler," the bear rumbled gently. "We've been waiting for someone with an imagination as big as Finley's."

Elly discovered that inside the magical pyramid were rooms filled with adventures—an ocean of clouds where you could surf on starboards, a forest of crystal trees that sang when you touched them, and a library where stories floated around you like butterflies.

The bear taught her that imagination was the real magic. "Some people see a fish in a bowl," he explained as they ate star-shaped cookies. "Others see a friend who dreams of pyramids. The difference is simply believing."

When Elly returned to her room, her palm still tingled with magic. Her little goldfish swam in his bowl, but now Elly knew better. Finley wasn't just a fish—he was an adventurer, a dreamer, and most importantly, her friend.

That night, as Elly fell asleep, she whispered to her fish, "Next time, let's explore the crystal forest." Finley swished his tail in a triangle shape, which meant: "As you wish, my friend."

Because the best adventures, Elly learned, are the ones you share with friends who believe in magic as much as you do.
