The Goldfish Who Dreamed of Baseball

Bubbles was no ordinary goldfish. While other fish swam in lazy circles, Bubbles pressed her nose against the glass, watching the children play baseball in the backyard. She dreamed of hitting home runs and sliding into home plate.

One sunny afternoon, something magical happened. Little Mia forgot to close the tank lid while feeding her. Bubbles saw her chance - she gathered all her courage and made a magnificent leap!

But goldfish can't run on dry ground. Bubbles flopped helplessly on the wooden porch, her orange scales gleaming in the sunlight.

"Don't worry!" cried Mia, gently scooping Bubbles into a bucket of water. "I have an idea!"

Miam's older brother Lucas was running nearby with his baseball gear. He smiled and grabbed a length of thick cable from their dad's toolbox. Together, they created the most amazing invention: a special swing that could hold the bucket safely.

Bubbles couldn't believe her eyes! The children gently swung her back and forth, higher and higher. Her fins fluttered with joy as she soared through the air like she was flying.

"Now you can play too!" Mia cheered, tossing a small foam baseball toward Bubbles. With a splash of her tail, Bubbles knocked the ball right out of the air!

All summer long, Bubbles became the team's special mascot. The children made sure she never left her bucket, but they invented wonderful games they could play together. Bubbles would splash to signal "safe" or "out," and her orange body would sparkle like fireworks when someone scored.

But Bubbles learned something even more magical than flying: the best kind of home run isn't about winning. It's about friends who include everyone, no matter how different they might be.

That night, safe back in her tank, Bubbles swam happier circles than ever before. She was just a small goldfish, but she had the biggest heart on the whole baseball team - and that was better than any home run.
