The Goldfish Who Danced with Lightning
Emma loved her goldfish more than anything in the world. His name was Finnegan, and he was the most beautiful orange fish anyone had ever seen. Every day after school, Emma would sit by his bowl and tell him stories about her day.
One stormy evening, the sky turned dark and purple. Emma watched as tiny bolts of lightning flickered behind the clouds. She had just fed Finnegan when something sad happened. His little fish body floated to the top of the water, and he didn't move when she gently tapped the glass.
Tears filled Emma's eyes. "Oh, Finnegan," she whispered. Her grandmother came in and explained that Finnegan had gone to fish heaven. They buried him in the garden under a special flower.
That night, Emma cried herself to sleep as lightning flashed outside her window. But then something magical happened. In her dream, she saw Finnegan swimming through the clouds, glowing with a soft orange light. He wasn't gone at all—he had become magical!
The next morning, Emma ran to the garden. Where they had buried Finnegan, a tiny fish-shaped flower had bloomed. And inside the flower's petals swam the smallest goldfish she had ever seen, no bigger than her thumbnail!
"Finnegan?" she gasped. The little fish did a happy flip in the morning dew.
Her grandmother laughed when she saw it. "Well, I never! Some fish are too magical to stay gone. I suppose you could call him a little zombie goldfish, brought back by magic!"
From that day on, Emma learned that goodbye isn't always forever. Finnegan lived in a special pond in the garden, and whenever lightning storms came, he would glow with tiny electric sparks. Emma would sit by the pond and watch him dance across the water, leaving tiny ripples of light wherever he swam.
And that's how Emma learned that the most amazing things can happen when you least expect them—even things that seem impossible. Like a goldfish who loves lightning and comes back to say hello.
