The Goldfish Who Danced

Lily peered into her fishbowl. Her goldfish, Sparkle, floated near the glass, his orange scales shimmering like tiny stars.

"You look lonely," Lily whispered. She had just moved to a new house and didn't have friends yet either.

That night, something magical happened. Lily watched as Sparkle swam to the top of his bowl and—POP!—jumped right onto her desk!

"Lily!" Sparkle chirped. "I've been wanting to talk to you forever!"

Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"

"Of course! Fish talk all the time. Humans just don't listen underwater." Sparkle wiggled his fins. "Want to see something cool? Follow that television cable!"

The coiled cable stretched from Lily's TV across the floor and seemed to glow. Sparkle hopped along it like it was a magical path. Lily followed, her heart racing with excitement.

The cable led them outside to the backyard. Under the moonlight, other creatures were gathering—squirrels, rabbits, even a sleepy owl.

"What's happening?" Lily asked.

"The Midnight Garden Party!" Sparkle announced. "We have it every full moon. New friends are always welcome!"

Suddenly, the neighbor's dog, Buster, stumbled out from behind a bush. He walked funny, with stiff legs and dangling tongue.

"Is that a zombie?!" Lily gasped.

Sparkle giggled. "Nope! That's Buster doing his famous zombie dance! Watch this!"

Buster shuffled and grooved in a silly, sleepy way. All the animals clapped. Soon, everyone joined in—wiggling and wobbling like happy zombies.

Lily laughed and danced too, spinning under the stars with her new friends. She realized something wonderful: she wasn't lonely anymore.

As dawn approached, Sparkle swam back to his bowl. "See you tomorrow night, friend!"

Lily smiled, understanding that magic and friendship can be found in the most unexpected places—even with a dancing goldfish and a zombie dog.

Sometimes the best adventures start with being brave enough to say hello.
